History

When John Bailey’s uncle, Glenn Bailey started arranging train tours to the Chicago World’s Fair in 1933, he laid the groundwork for Bailey Travel Service. Glenn and his brother, Fred, founded Bailey Travel Service in April 1949 and operated the business together until the late 1970s when they passed the torch to their nephew and son, John Bailey.

In 2010, Bailey Travel merged with Lancaster based Travel Time Travel, owned and operated by Shaun Balani. During this time, they purchased York based Travel Leaders and in April of 2016, they purchased Fox Valley Travel. These expansions were made with the goal of offering their travel services to more clients in a greater area and becoming the largest family owned travel agency in South Central Pennsylvania. John’s daughter, Courtney Bailey, was their Client Relations Director, making it a three-generation company.

John Bailey founded Bailey Coach in 1998 with two European Style Motorcoach Buses and a vision to deliver a higher standard in the motorcoach bus market. Together with his partner, Rodney Sechrist, Bailey Coach acquired Tarbert’s Airport Transportation in 2002 to provide on-demand airport service to the region’s airports. In 2005, they purchased Hegins Valley Lines Coach, bringing three more luxurious coach buses to the Bailey line for a total of nine. February of 2011, Bailey Coach acquired the charter bus division of Red Lion Bus Company and in early 2015, purchased three buses from Lincoln Bus Lines; two 55 passenger motorcoaches, one being handicap accessible, and one 47 passenger motorcoach. Bailey Coach purchased their first 40 passenger motorcoach in April of 2016.

Today, with the expertise of over 68 years in the travel agency business, and John’s leadership, Bailey Coach has become South Central Pennsylvania’s fastest growing transportation company. John takes great pride in his employees, and acknowledges that the companies would not have achieved all they have without his employee’s dedication and loyalty. Forty percent of John’s staff has been with him for over 20 years, so he truly treats them like a family. They are large enough to handle the most discerning clients, yet small enough to care about every detail that goes into getting people where they need to go.
